![]() Greenville, Mississippi - March 27, 2024 - The Delta Hot Tamale Festival, produced by Main Street Greenville, has been honored with the prestigious title of number one Specialty Food Festival in the nation by USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. Celebrating its 13th year, the Delta Hot Tamale Festival has become a beloved tradition in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Held annually on the third weekend of October, this year's festival promises to be a celebration like no other, showcasing the region's favorite delicacy, the delta style hot tamale. "We are thrilled and deeply honored to receive this recognition from USA Today," said Daniel Boggs, CEO of the Greater Greenville Development Foundation, the parent company of Main Street Greenville. "The Delta Hot Tamale Festival is a labor of love for our community, and to be acknowledged on a national level is truly remarkable." The festival kicks off on Thursday, October 17, with a Welcome Dinner at historic Hotel 27, featuring a multi-course meal prepared by Chef David Crews. Friday, October 18, will host Artisan Expressions, where notable artisans will share insights into their crafts, followed by Food Truck Friday featuring live music and delicious fare from local vendors. The evening will culminate with a concert on the Main Stage presented by Regions. Saturday, October 19, is the main festival day, beginning with a lively parade down historic Washington Avenue. Festival-goers can enjoy arts and crafts vendors, live music on two stages, tamale eating and cooking contests, and the ticketed event, Flavors of the Festival, offering a culinary journey of tamale tastings expertly paired with craft beer.
