Youth BoothsThe Youth Booth area is a special part of the Delta Hot Tamale Festival created to give young people the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. We encourage students to use their creativity, develop an idea, make or grow something themselves, and take an active role in selling it at the festival.
To help us keep the Youth Booth area focused on that experience, please review the following guidelines before applying.
Qualifications

• Participants must be currently enrolled in elementary, middle, or high school.
• Participants must be between the ages of 7 and 18.
• Students born after October 17, 2019 are not eligible to participate.
• Students born on or before October 15, 2007 are not eligible to receive a youth booth.
• Students who are 18 must still be enrolled in high school to qualify.

What Can Be Sold?

• Items must be handmade or homegrown by the participating student(s).
• handmade artwork, jewelry, non-food items are strongly encouraged and will be preferred
• Homemade bake sales are allowed. Food items must meet applicable cottage food requirements and must be prepared at home and packaged and sealed before arriving at the festival. 
• homemade and harvested food items which meet Mississippi cottage laws such as honeys and preserves made and packaged by the student.

Food may not be prepared, mixed, poured, reheated, or otherwise assembled at the booth. 

What Cannot Be Sold?

• No resale shops or concession stands are allowed. Store-bought products may not be purchased and resold.
• Lemonade, tea, sno-cones, slushes, or other prepared beverages may not be sold 
• Food prepared or served on-site that requires ServSafe certification under Mississippi State Department of Health regulations is not allowed. This includes food that requires cooking, reheating, mixing, pouring, temperature control, or other on-site preparation.

Student-led groups are allowed.
​Example: Junior class bake sale raising money for prom. However, parents, teachers, coaches, sponsors, adults, etc. are not allowed to run the booth for the students. Students must prepare the items being sold and run the booth.

All booths must collect and submit sales taxes on items sold at the festival. A tax form will be provided in your vendor packet. 

Don't forget to bring change, tables, chairs, displays, and anything you need to run your booth.
